Hi there thanks for doing what you are doing. Certainly helps to expand people's horizons in terms of music.
Anyway I was hoping if it is possible to help me find a french song I heard all so many years ago. Problem is I have no idea of the name. I only recall it was playing everywhere in France and Belgium when I visited in 1996. So I guess the song could be older, like 1995 or older... I tried searching for hit songs for that period, shocked to discover almost all songs that hit in france are english song... So maybe you could just tell me which french songs were famous between 1994-1996? thanks pal

I've just come across your site a couple of hours ago, and I'm already loving it. What you say here is exactly what I've been thinking for a long time: there's some great power out there that doesn't want us to listen to good French music.

There used to be this French guy in a radio programme in my country who recommended some great (and some terrible) songs every week, but aside from that, last.fm (to some extent) and doing wild searches in Google and Youtube, I had found no good suggestions.

So seeing that Les Cowboys Fringants, Les Vulgaires Machins and Mademoiselle K have made it to your best albums list, something good will come out of this.

Continue à rocker!

I live in France, and I've noticed that most people will happily listen to the same recycled 80's garbage, no radio programmers will put on anything new, unless it's something awful from Lady Gaga or Green Day. All goos music seems to go unnoticed in France, you have to dive into shithole bars to find any decent rock, indie, jazz, punk, folk, or anything else. The music's out there, but the French will happily listen to SkyRock or NRJ and support the overrated crap.

Anyway, like your blog, keep it up =)

What a great idea of you to start this blog! I'm learning French too, hoping to speak it as fluent as my other languages someday.

Also I'm a big fan of Babylon Circus, been to a couple of their concerts and bought the cd's i could find. Most people think it's strange because they're stuck with English music (i guess).

Keep up the good work!

Hi Olivier,

Thanks! I'm really enjoying French Radio London, although I've not yet had the chance to hear your breakfast shows.
