I was asked to translate this song in a comment from a previous Vulgaires Machins translation.
In the run-up to the UK election I had wanted to keep things reasonably topical, and luckily this fits well (excuse the pun), the title summing up the attitude of some of our politicians’ spending plans for the future, and the song being about the quality of information we demand, and receive, from the media.
Puits Sans Fond, “Bottomless pit” is from the excellent album Compter Les Corps.

I stumbled across your translation, and wanted to say that you’ve done an excellent job. There is only one small thing that I noticed and wanted to point out…
“journal de Montréal” should actually translate to “Journal de Montréal”. It is the name of a Montreal publication that is more of a tabloid than a legitimate newspaper. That is essentially the point of the song. They are exposing the ‘Journal’ for what it really is: sensationalized media with no real content, just gossip and useless information.
