Dynamite – The first release from the new BB Brunes album

The second BB Brunes album is due to be released on November 16th. Dynamite is the first single from the album and is available to listen to free on their website in exchange for giving them your email address.

I really like this single although currently it’s not available in the British iTunes store or on Amazon.

I am currently translating this song (the result of which will be part of this post when I publish it) and something great is happening in the background. Another album new to my ears and sounding great. It’s by yet another band from Quebec called Kaïn. The album is called Les Saisons S’Tassent and you can be sure that this won’t be the last time I’ll mention them here. There are so many bands I want to introduce you to that it makes me wonder why I’m posting another BB Brunes translation.

The translation threw up some interesting verbs and unless your French is quite advanced you should pick up something new from the vocabulary I’ve highlighted.

I’ve just finished the translation and the Kaïn album is still playing – it really does sound very good indeed.

Verbs
TerrasserTo strike down
It was then that a strong gust of wind struck me down
For when I approach everyone departs surprised
I picked up my dynamite, that's when it sprang forward and in a flash grabbed me and plunged me into vice
TerrasserTo strike down
It was then that a strong gust of wind struck me down

It haunted you, trapped by the apparent lack of consequences

Dynamite - BB Brunes

Dynamite (translation of Dynamite by BB Brunes)

Prends garde à toi car tu te tiens devant

Ma dynamite, ma dynamite et moi
Ma dynamite, ma dynamite et moi
Ma dynamite, ma dynamite et moi
Ma dynamite, ma dynamite et moi
Ma dynamite, ma dynamite et moi

Leaving top of the class
I pray that it'll all turn out well for me
For when I approach everyone departs surprised

Ambitious but legs a little too flabby
I picked up my dynamite, that's when it sprang forward and
In a flash grabbed me and plunged me into vice

Dynamite, dynamite me
Dynamite, dynamite me

Skinny jeans, dandy boots a little loud
I now only lived at night
Staggering with an empty flask in my pocket

Ambitious but legs a little too flabby
I picked up my dynamite
It was then that a strong gust of wind struck me down
Yes and threw me into the light

Dynamite, dynamite me
Dynamite, dynamite me

Because that girl was really impatient
Yet you had already had enough
It haunted you, trapped by the apparent lack of consequence
Take care of yourself for you come first

My dynamite, me and my dynamite
My dynamite, me and my dynamite
My dynamite, me and my dynamite
My dynamite, me and my dynamite
My dynamite, me and my dynamite

Hi, thanks. I’ve heard extracts from the album at http://www.bbbrunes.fr/audio and I think it sounds quite promising – I’m looking forward to the release in a couple of weeks – I hope they release it to the UK market at the same time. I had a listen to the tracks on your MySpace page – sounds really good.
